Strengthening our commitment in community building
GMBank continues to strengthen its commitment to financial wellness as it partners with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) for the pilot launch of the โGOOD Money, GOOD Pesoโ activity, in line with BSPโs Piso Caravan initiative. The event was held at the GMBank Business Center, Head Office in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija this July morning.
The Piso Caravan aims to encourage the circulation of idle coins and assist in the withdrawal of unfit and mutilated currency. These efforts are part of the BSPโs broader Coin Recirculation Program, which seeks to improve coin availability, and maintain the overall quality of Philippine currency.
During the program, Ms. Marie Aimee S. Maramba, Head of GMBankโs Operations Group, welcomed the participants and expressed the significance of the partnership.
โThis initiative goes beyond currency exchange. It highlights our commitment to financial inclusion and public service,โ Ms. Maramba said.
Atty. Olivia B. Cornejo-Mallari, Area Director of BSP Cabanatuan Branch, also delivered her message of recognition and appreciation for GMBankโs dedication to the program.
โGMBank, among local banks with an established Head Office here in Nueva Ecija, has committed the most number of branches to be considered as Currency Exchange Centers under the BSP initiative,โ she noted. The Area Director also added that kind of participation shows true leadership in public financial service. Attorney Cornejo-Mallari gave her insights with the intimidation of the fellow Filipinos who were unbanked, and this Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) can be vital to each oneโs success.
Before the ceremonial signing, Ms. Chona Y. Co, Head of GMBankโs Branch Banking and Microfinance Group, acknowledged the team behind the scenes who worked to make the partnership successful.
โWe commend the efforts of our GMBank officers and staff who made this collaboration possible. Our shared responsibility with BSP aligns with our mission to promote financial safety and literacy.โ said Ms. Co.
To formally seal the partnership, Ms. Co, Ms. Maramba, and Atty. Cornejo-Mallari signed the agreement and pledge of commitment, reinforcing their joint mission to carry out the objectives of the Piso Caravan and coin recirculation.
With this collaboration, GMBank positions itself as an advocate for accessible and inclusive financial programs. The bankโs role in the Caravan underscores its dedication to serving not only as a financial institution, but also as a partner GOOD Community.
The Piso Caravan will be available every Thursday across all 43 GMBank branches in North and Central Luzon, providing the public with a convenient way to exchange loose coins and unfit bills while participating in a broader cause for national economic efficiency.
